Today, when I logged into my Google Cloud VM Instance Overview, it greeted me with a recommendation! I pay about 5USD/month for that instance, and it’s running hot (according to the graphs). – Therefore I was more than happy to hear that I could basically continue running this at 0 cost.

Leider gibt es über dieses Buch so viel zu schreiben, dass einem die Lust vergeht in’s Detail zu gehen. tl;dr: Während versucht wird eine kohärente Geschichte zur Rechtfertigung der Unterdrückung der Frauen zu erzählen, ist die Egozentrik der Autoren so gross, dass vergessen wird über den Tellerrand (geografisch,..) oder in die Tiefe (psychologisch,..) zu blicken. Das ganze Buch artet in einem mansplaining slaughterfest aus. Wie so oft, wenn Menschen ihre Ausführungen mit ‘was nun folgt ist nicht mansplaining’ beginnen.
Durch das ganze Werk kommt immer wieder das Gefühl auf, dass die Autoren eine Rechtfertigung für ihre eigene Einstellung suchen – eine Einstellung, die zwar oberflächliches Lippenbekenntnis zu Gleichberechtigung liefert, aber im Grunde halt immernoch eine alte-weisse-Männer binäre Weltsicht vertritt.
meh. Die Prämisse war schon zu Goethe’s Zeit nicht belegbar, und obwohl der Author dies wusste, kritzelte er ein Werk, welches viel Raum zur Interpretation lässt. Die Geschichten innerhalb des Handlungsstranges sind (wohl absichtlich) zu kurz gefasst, um dem Publikum Denkanstösse zu geben… liest sich alles ein bisschen als fishing-for-fame-and-controversy.
Spannend am Werk ist eigentlich nur die sich wandelnde Interpretation über die Jahrzehnte, und deren Versuche, es immer wieder im Kontext des Zeitgeistes als Meisterwerk zu feiern.
Oder ich versteh’s einfach nicht 🙂

Pretty interesting take on automatisms in crisis situations:
Coming from a long history of crisis response, I have strong opinions on clearly pre-defined, optimally automated, countermeasures as a critical pillar to stop the bleeding fast.
In addition, it’d be helpful for the population to understand which aspects kick in at any given stage, to weigh their decisions.
Two weeks ago, my new build stopped booting, reporting 0xc0000229 and LED indicators (POST stage) would show various codes, most often 55. Turns out, my cpu – and specifically the memory controller – went bad. Thought I’d leave this out here on the internet, since it took me a while to debug 🙂

I’ve concluded that I need to disable that feature 🙂 My step counts fluctuate so heavily, and the algorithm is so basic, it’s basically impossible to meet step goals consistently. The most trivial optimization of auto step would be to take avg steps-beyond-goal into account when decreasing the goal, but it seems that’s not what it currently does.
